Just doing what you were told to do, way off to the side of everything else. Nobody looking at you, nobody really caring, but you still have a duty to perform. And, of course, you perform that duty completely, without worrying about resources or consequences.

Then, the next thing you know, somebody pushes some buttons. Electrons are shifted around, and sent up the river after your ass. Zzzztttt. Elimination. Just for doing what you were told to do. No excuses, no reprieve.
