I'm inclined to agree about the uselessness of call waiting in most instances, I have put friends on hold to find some *&^%$$# telemarketer on the other line (& dog-cussed same for the intrusion), but if you have teens (as I do) CW is a necessary evil, esp. if you have elderly relatives (as I also do) who might need help at a moment's notice...
