We in Canada are not given information on where sex offenders are living in the community unless the police cheif in my city goes against their privacy and allows the info out. This happens if the offender is still deemed to be a thread to society, especially noted and outed are paedophiles and is happening more often these days.

In my city we have to have a halfway house for parolees of crimes whether sexual or not. It is mandated by Corrections Canada and the facility is run by our local Salvation Army.

It is located in the heart of downtown and everyone knows where it is but we are not privvy to know who is residing in there most times.

There seems to be more and more of these indiviuals reoffending and so our city is trying very hard to get rid of this service from here. Seems we became the drop off point after the halfway house in Toronto got a very bad rep for allowing too much freedom to their "clients" and one went out and murdered the same day he was released.

I wish Canada would implement a listing for our people to see and be forewarned if one moves into our area. Maybe once victims are given the same rights as the offender this will change....
