Ugly day yesterday

The iguana I've had for over eight years died.

I adopted her in april of 2000 from the local humane society: we think she was about 4 then. She had had horrible care prior to them taking her in; there were scars up and down her tail from thermal burns. In 2006, I had to have most of her tail amputated due to some unidentified degenerative bone disorder. She had been visibly sick since September, I never did figure out what the cause was. Sometime in October, she stopped eating on her own, but she did seem to respond at first to oral fluid/slurry support. Just gradully got worse.

I can't afford to have a necropsy done, and no, I'm not going to do one myself, can't deal with that.

Sorry for your loss

Although it's hard to relate to, I know you feel the loss just as intently as we mammal-pet lovers would. May she RIP.

That is a sad thing to hear gekko. My condolences.

Oh I'm sorry to hear that, gg :console:

It's great that you found her and gave her a safe and happy home after the rough start she had, she might not have lived so long had it not been for you.

It's never easy to lose a family member.

I have always felt great sadness in losing my rescues, but I take comfort in knowing that they passed comfortable, with someone who cared about them rather than as refuse or a mistake. *hugs*

I am extremely sorry to hear of your loss, gekkogecko.

Don't know how I missed this thread, but I'm deeply sorry for your loss, GG.

PantyFanatic 12-17-2008 02:31 AM

The loss of anything we care about brings sad feelings that we want our friends to pass through as quickly as possible. Consider the reasons you cared rather than the loss.
