Author,journalist,radio show host.activist who celebrated working class middle America,dies at the age of 96. Amazing life story,he was giving radio interviews a couple ofweeks after having open heart surgery a couple of years ago. This true giant will surely be missed. RIP Mr.Terkel

That is definitely sad news. :(

Back in the day, the theatre department at my college put on a production of "Working" that I enjoyed so very much that it got me to read a few of his works. He was incredibly talented.

I enjoyed reading his "Division Street: America". He wrote well.

He added a touch of realism to "Eight Men Out" by playing a crusty, cynical old Chicago newspaper writer...no stretch of his acting abilities, I'm sure he'd say. RIP Mr Terkel
