Help me with some real life definitions please

Ok, I want to know if I'm the one with strange thinking or my boyfriend just doesn't know how to use terms....

So, what do these words mean to everyone else? How do you use them?

Voyeur/voyeursim

exhibitionsit/exhibitionism

sadist

masochist

Thanks!

a voyeur is one who watches an exhibitionist

a sadist provides pleasure from a masochist's pain and vice versa

:cents: :cents:

For the purposes and context of sex, the definitions are basically as follows:

- A Voyeur is someone who is sexually aroused by watching others participate in sexual acts.
- An Exhibitionist is someone who is sexually aroused by having others watch them in sexual acts.
- A masochist is someone who is sexually aroused by receiving pain.
- A sadist is someone is sexually around by supplying pain to others.

However, these terms, in thier purest definition, are not necessarily sexual.

- A voyeur can be someone who simply gains some type of pleasure from watching others do anything..for example, someone who watches sports is technically a voyeur.
- An exbitionist can be someone who simply gains pleasure from being watched, or simply having the spotlight...someone who likes public attention for anything, like a performer of some type.
- A masochist can simply be someone who seems to gain some type of pleasure or comfort from being harmed (physical or psychological)....for example, someone who uses drugs is technically a masochist.
- A sadist can be someone who simply gains some type of pleasure from making others suffer in some way.....Hitler for example.

I'm curious how your boyfriend uses those terms since they are pretty well defined in almost any dictionary.

Soooooooooooooooooo...what is the verdict?

Does "your terminology" add up to "his terminolgy"?

Oh hun? Inquiring minds gotta know what he thinks and you think!

I'm a voyeur... So if you are an exhibitionist, I always happy to oblige... ;)

Sorry to leave you hanging. My definitions are the same as everyone who replied. His were a little different.

In regards to voyeur/exhibitionist. He understand the concept of one being a watcher, the other being the watched. But says that voyeurism encompasses 3 parts, the scene, the witness(es), and the participants. This was our largest disagreement in the whole discussion, and it was finally decided to just agree to disagree.

In regards to masochist vs sadist. He agreed that one likes to receive pleasure, and the other likes to give, but he put very negative connotations on the word sadist and uses the word masochist in a more general reference to consensual BDSM play between two people. Again, we had to agree to disagree because he didn't like being wrong. :)

Oh well, thank you everyone for your feedback.

Actually, both sadists and masochists like to give and receive pleasure. They just do it through opposite means of the same situation.

Let me suggest you let the boyfriend have his way.

You undress and let him watch you
This way he is the Voyeur/voyeursim
and you are the exhibitionsit/exhibitionism
