What's your theme song?
Okay, I know we've had some threads about favourite music in the past, but I thought this might be fun... What I want to know is: what song(s) best encapsulate your identity? If you had to pick one or two songs that would be the theme songs for your life at the moment, what would they be? And... this is the fun part... From what you know about the other Pixies' members, is there any song that you think could be a theme song for them? Or is there a song that would be a perfect theme song for the whole group of us?
For example: My theme song for today would have to be Ani Difranco's song "Pixie" (hmmm, isn't that nicely ironic, considering where I'm posting this?)... Here's an excerpt: "I’m a pixie / I’m a paper doll / I’m a cartoon / I’m a chipper, cheerful free-for-all / And I light up a room / I’m the Colour-me-happy Girl / Miss Live-and-let-live / And when they’re out for blood / I always give // ... // Maybe you don’t like your job / Maybe you didn’t get enough sleep / Well nobody likes their job / Nobody got enough sleep / Maybe you just had the worst day of your life / You know there’s no escape, there’s no excuse / So just suck up, suck up, and be nice / Be nice (6x) ..." As for the theme song for another member, earlier today I had a sudden and inexplicable urge to get out my Alanis Morissette albums and came across the song "(I'm a) Bitch" --- and immediately thought of our dear Lilith. (In the best possible way, of course!) :D "I'm a bitch, I'm a lover / I'm a child, I'm a mother / I'm a sinner, I'm a saint / I do not feel ashamed / I'm your hell, I'm your dream / I'm nothing in between / You know you wouldn't want it any other way // I'm a bitch, I'm a tease / I'm a goddess on my knees / When you hurt, when you suffer / I'm your angel undercover / I've been numbed, I'm revived / Can't say I'm not alive / You know I wouldn't want it any other way." To give another example, whenever I hear the songs "Ponerte en Cuatro" or "El Disco Anal" by the Venezuelan acid jazz-slash-dance group Los Amigos Invisibles, I think of our very own Ass Man Extraordinaire, Aquaman... I won't post the lyrics for those songs because they're all in Spanish, but the rather inexplicable music videos are on the band's site at http://www.amigosinvisibles.com/newsound.html. (I should point out that the lyrics are actually quite sweet and have relatively little to do with the steamy titles --- it's mainly the titles of the songs that make me think of Aqua...) In fact, most of the band's titles --- such as "Sexy", "Porno Song", and "Masturbation Session" --- would make great Pixies' theme songs! :o A couple of final examples: One for Leigh, thinking back to her strip poker thread, would be Tom Jones' "You Can Leave Your Hat On"... A song for the whole Pixies' gang might be "Sex Machine" by James Brown. So c'mon, everyone, tell me: when you're listening to the radio, what song captures you? And what song conjures up the fondest memories of this site and the people on it? --- sweetstuff |
Three stooges theme!!!!!!
|
Meredith Brooks....'I'm a Bitch'....... works for me:D
|
For the pixies gang, I think "You sexy thing" by Hot Chocolate fits really well.
I believe in miracles Where you from You sexy thing I believe in miracles Since you came along You sexy thing Miracles right before my eyes You sexy thing got me hypnotised Don't stop what ya' doing What ya' doing to me As for myself, I have always identified with "Bitch" by Meredith Brooks because I guess I don't put up with much crap and I stand up for what I believe in. |
Hello SugarFree,
FYI You Can Leave Your Hat On Is Joe Cocker's song from the movie Nine & a Half Weeks, also his album Cocker, song was written by Randy Newman |
Boy this is a hard one.
I must say at the moment (prob due to Jack D and coke) it is Signs by Tesla ( not written by them though) Cause i hate people shovin their opions down other peoples throat!! But this will prob change as my mood changes!! |
Yep, I know, Meredith Brooks did Bitch first and Joe Cocker did Leave Your Hat On first as well --- I'm just going by my personal favourite recordings of those songs... And Xanne, i think Miracles would make a great theme song! But Mindboxer, I've got to ask though --- what makes you pick the Stooges song? (I guess it's a guy thing, as is everything with the Stooges... )
Hmm.... I must be way too addicted to this place. The thought just crossed my mind to make a compilation cd of all the 'theme songs' picked by the members... Hey Lilith, when's the next Pixaholic meeting? I think I'm overdue for some group therapy! :o :p :D --- sweetstuff |
This place ain't just about sex to me eventhough that's a large part of it.......it's about havein fun with others, jokinaround, flirtin with the folks here and just really entertaining each other with our different personalities.....so i thought of something kinda light and funny hence three stooges theme.........
and i and i still need that meeting schedule.....j u s t can't stop cumming to pixie's<sob sob> straight jacket please!!!! |
No problem with your choice Sugarfree, but i thought old welsh
Tom was before your time,or do you like the idea of throwing your knickers at him |
For all the Pixie Ladies who had a negative response to
LoveDivas Did you get lucky last night maybe SOME DAY MY PRINCE WILL CUM |
i have to agree with mindboxer

ive only been here since monday and i cant get enough!! everyone gets on so great. its just a fantistic place to be a part of!!!!!!:D :D :D |
I think theme tunes are like moods and change with the soundtrack of your life at the time.
This week I have been mainly Queen - Who wants to live forever. Also U2 - Desire A theme for pixie-holics could be Both sides now by Elaine Paige, Julie Covington, Paul Young & Clannad (my favourite version) etc etc But now old friends are acting strange, they shake their heads, they say I've changed. Something's lost but something's gained in living every day. I've looked at life from both sides now, from win and lose, and still somehow it's life's illusions I recall. I really don't know life at all. |
Yeah, that's a great tune choice, Glyndwr --- though I think the real title is "Clouds" and the original is by Joni Mitchell (I could be wrong... wasn't born when it was written... )... And I couldn't agree more with you that theme songs are all about moods, they change frequently and often (in my case anyway) without warning! In fact... I think my current theme song choice --- despite what I said about K.D. Lang & "Constant Craving" in the Pixaholics thread --- would have to be the old jazz standard, "You're getting to be a habit with me"! :D
I'm also in complete agreement with Mindboxer and Danziggy that this place is about far more than sex... I love the friendships (flirtatious and otherwise) that I've been able to establish here... From that perspective maybe I'd choose a song like "Come Together" (by the Beatles, of course) for the overall Pixies' theme... --- sweetstuff P.s. Blk cat --- yes, Tom Jones is a wee bit older than me, but if you've noticed, my taste in music has very little to do with my age... I was raised listening to the Beatles, John Lee Hooker, and Louis Armstrong every bit as much as Sharon, Lois, and Bram, Eric Nagler, Fred Penner, Raffi, and the rest............. Oooh, speaking of Johnny Lee, his version of "I'm in the Mood for Love" with Bonnie Raitt would be an awesome Pixies' theme as well, don't you think? Anyway, besides: Tom Jones may be a little old (to me, LOL) but it doesn't take too much convincing to get me to start throwing my knickers about! ;) |
well throw them at me. i'll catch them!!!
|
mine would have to be where is my mind by the pixies hmm weird how that happened
|
"I'm a bitch, I'm a tease, I'm a goddess on her knees"
Yeah works for me too. Or anything by Billie Holiday. Wickedly, WW |
For my theme songs I have to go a little more recent. One would be "Why Georgia" by John Mayer(who is an amazing singer/songwriter if you haven't heard of him yet)and another would have to be "Beautiful" by Joydrop. Also, like most of the chicks on the site, I would have to pick Meredith Brooks "Bitch". On the topic of the Pixie's theme; well, that will take a little more thought.

Babe theme
"If I had words to make a day for you, I'd build you a morning golden and new. I would make this day last for all time, And fill the night deep with moonshine." Camille Saint-Saens |
My theme song? Hmmm.... probably Steve Earle's "I Ain't Ever Satisfied".... kinda sums me up...
|
Its so hard to pick 1 song that sums me up. I'm a big fan of the beatles and one of my favorite songs is Blackbird
"Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these broken wings and learn to fly All you life You were only waiting for this moment to arise Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these sunken eyes and learn to see All your life You were only waiting for this moment to be free" |
hmmmm...that's a tough question...
Over the years, I've had several theme songs! I suppose my friends would tell you that I always say "this is my theme song" when I hear either "Baby got back" or "Brickhouse". If we're talking about songs that encompass me... The Wood Song - Indigo Girls "No way construction of this tricky plan was built by other than a greater hand with a love that passes all it's understanding watching closely over the journey...yeah but what it takes to cross the great divide seems more than all the courage I can muster up inside but we get have some answers when we reach the other side the prize is always worth the rocky ride... ...sometimes I ask to sneak a closer look skip to the final chapter of the book and maybe steer us clear from some of the pain it took to get us where we are this far.... ...but the question drowns in it's futility and even I have got to laugh at me no one gets to miss the storm of what will be just holdin' on for the ride...." or To Live is to Fly - The Cowboy Junkies ...I'm as soft as glass your a gentle man we got the sky to talk about and the world to lie upon days up and down they come like rain on a conga drum forget most remember some but don't turn none away everything is not enough and nothing is too much to bear where ya been is good and gone all ya keeps the getting there To live is to fly low and high so shake the dust off of your wings and the sleep out of your eye Good bye to all my friends it's time to go again think of all the poetry and all the pickin' down the line I'll miss the system here the bottom's low and the trebles clear it don't pay to think too much on the things you leave behind I may be gone but I won't be long I'll be bringing back all the melodies and all the rythms that I find" Ophelia |
for the pixaholics out there....hows about the song........love shack....by the b-52"s???????
do the love shack shimmy.........everybodies grooving babe |
"People linin' up outside just to get Doooowwnnnn"
|
I'm tinnnnnn roof rusted! :D<giggling>
|
Lilith is that the like she burts out at the end?????? may the birds of paradise fly up your nose and make you giggle down to your toes, darlin!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been trying for ages to figure that one out!!!!!!!!! thanks for solving my delima( and for the whipping) |
na-na na-na na-na na-na na-na na-na na-na na-na... Sil-ky!
"holy sweet-assed chunky monkeys, Phatman!" "to the Gimp-mobile!" okay, i'm done. |
Another one for the pixaholics......
Welcome to the Pleasuredome - frankie goes to hollywood |
Relax - Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Queen - Under Preassure |
For the dom's and whip crackers.........
Welcome to my nightmare........ALICE COOPER....... |
Another possible theme song, but I don't know the singer/writer, "I Want To Be Seduced". Heard it in a movie on cable, had a YOUNG Richard Dreyfuss in it. He was playing a hippie detective.
"Wanting to be seduced... a lot!!" WW |
what about "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails
if anyone know this song, they'll know what i mean :D |
hell yeah legend!!!
I have to say that Dr. Worm by They Might Be Giants is my theme :-D |
ok ok i've found mine!!!!!!!! this is not an insinuation of the beautiful women here......just a fun song............
don't know who sings it(hank williams jr i think??) it goes.. '' I like my women just a little on the trashy side, when the wear their clothes to tight and their hair to wild, to much lipstick and a toomuch rouge gets me excited and gets me feeling confused, I like my women just a little on the Trashy Side!!!!!!!!!'' |
Hmmm...theme song...that's a good question...how about
"Why Don't We Get Drunk And Screw?"~Jimmy Buffett... LOL..just kidding...actually..right now my perfect theme song is "I'm In Over My Head" ~ Lit pretty much sums up life in general for me..lol |
i have to go with legends for the pixie theme. that song kicks ass. that is my favorite song to dance to. the background beat makes for some great ass-shaking.

Well then I'll tell you that I think you're getting better on the drums... :D |
At this stage of my life...this is the song that best suits me....
Sometimes I shave my legs and sometimes I don't
Depend on how the wind blows, I might even paint my toes It really just depends on whatever feels good in my soul I'm not the average girl from your video And I ain't built like a supermodel But I learn to love myself unconditionally Because I am a queen I'm not the average girl from your video My worth is not determined by the price of my clothes The India Arie When I look in the mirror the only one there is me Every freckle on my face is where its supposed to be And I know my creator didn't make no mistakes on me My feet, my thighs, my lips, my eyes I'm lovin what I see Chorus Am I less of a lady if I don't wear pantyhose My mama said a lady ain't what she wears but what she knows But I've drawn a conclusion, It's all an illusion Confusion's the name of the game A misconception, A mass deception Something's gotta change Don't be offended, this is all my opinion Ain't nothin that I'm sayin law This is a true confession of a life-learned lesson I was sent hear to share wit y'all So get in where you fit in go on and shine Clear your mind, now's the time Put your salt on the shelf Go on and love yourself Cause everything's gonna be alright Chorus Keep your fancy drinks and your expensive minks I don't need that to have a good time Keep your expensive cars and your caviar All I need is my guitar Keep your Christalle and your pistol I'd rather have a pretty piece of crystal Don't need your silly comb I prefer my own What God gave me is just fine India Arie |
i think my theme song is "ADIDAS" by KoRn :D
|
Diva~ The perfect choice, of course, my fav song these days...... just love her!
|
ADIDAS... Very good choice legend!! For me that's just not enough, although it's very true! I just can't seem to think of one that really fits me...
