I made cookies yesterday and they turned out great.
Note that you can substitute apple sauce for about half of the butter in a cookie recipe. :) They turn out alittle flatter, but they're low fat. |
Didn't osuche vow never to bake again? *whistles innocently* :)
I'm the worst baker so don't bother disappointing myself anymore. I thought the poofy cookies looked good, too (hence why I don't bake!) :D Unfortunately, Aqua's link had expired. :( Porn music with his booming voice? *swoon* |
Here's a baking tip..... :D
Not what you had in mind but take it from me....It is WONDERFUL :) Makes a great addition to brunch. Baked French Toast Casserole W/ Praline topping 1 loaf French bread (13 to 16 ounces) 8 large eggs 2 cups half-and-half 1 cup milk 2 tablespoons granulated sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg Dash salt Praline Topping, recipe follows Maple syrup Slice French bread into 20 slices, 1-inch each. (Use any extra bread for garlic toast or bread crumbs). Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9 by 13-inch flat baking dish in 2 rows, overlapping the slices. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, half-and-half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt and beat with a rotary beater or whisk until blended but not too bubbly. Pour mixture over the bread slices, making sure all are covered evenly with the milk-egg mixture. Spoon some of the mixture in between the slices. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight. The next day, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Praline Topping: 1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter 1 cup packed light brown sugar 1 cup chopped pecans 2 tablespoons light corn syrup 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg Spread Praline Topping evenly over the bread and bake for 40 minutes, until puffed and lightly golden. Serve with maple syrup. |

I think the best baking tip for Pixie's is...
...Don't bake the Pixies. Too much screaming involved. |

OMG, that's funny! ... And BIBI, your Baked French Toast Casserole W/ Praline topping sounds delicious!! Got to talk to my wife about that. :) |
i forgot about this one:
if the child who is helping you make a box cake gets the cup of water needed from the dishwater in the sink instead of the tap, the cake will still taste fine. lmao |
OMG wyndhy...LMAO...too funny....guess it depends on what was in the dishwater.

Not baking in the sense of something sweet.... but one of my most favorite things to "bake" is the boneless pork chops... on broil... with just a light seasoning of ground black pepper. They come out so incredibly juicy and flavorful.
