there is an excellent book called "What to Expect When You Are Expecting" I am not sure if it is over there in the UK, but if it is, I highly reccommend it.

Thanks^^

That book is awesome--helped us out on LOTS of things---that book, doctor, mom and Lilith!!! ;)

I love hearing stories like yours IWM....shows that Mother Nature is still smarter than all the doctors no matter what we think!

So what made you ladies decide to take a test?

Did you miss a period, or did you just take it because you felt crappy?

Apparently not all women's periods stop altogether, so presumably these women either don't find out they're pregnant for a while longer, or they take the test because of other symptoms they're having.....

It all seems strangely mystical to me! LOL

I got married on April 18th. I noticed that I was late for my next period a month later and my boobs were sore. I took the test and it was just barely pink, so I went to the doctor and had another test and that confirmed it.

Morning sickness hit me in my 3rd month. I had to be very careful and not even try to swallow those pre-natal vitamins (horse size) until I knew I would keep it down.

My daughter was born on Jan 18th exactly 9 months later after being in labor for two full days and no epidural because my doctor was out playing golf and couldn't get his ass to me on time! One of the reasons I only have one kid. ;)

my docs wanted me to take an over the counter pg test before they'd even consider giving me the blood test. the otc tests usually detect only higher levels of the hcg hormone, so waiting until a missed period was pretty much my only option, even though i was almost positive i was preggers anyway. blood tests can detect the hcg at lower concentrations and can, therefore, be taken earlier...just a few days past ovulation i think.

i forgot to add that my tummy got kinda hard to the touch...about 2 months in or so, i think.
