Being a Kentucky girl myself, I can say with absolute certainty that while the Kentucky Derby is run on the first Saturday of May, the Kodiak Derby is held on the fifth Saturday of May. :D

"I am" is complete. 'Do' is a transitive verb and the only time you're going to use 'I do' is at a wedding or as a shortened version of a complete sentence.
