Tell us about how you met your current S/O. Was it a romantic, was it a friendship that turned into a relationship, did a friend set you up..... Was it the type of relationship that started slowly or was it fire and passion on the first date?

I met my SO on theinternet. A site called Lavalife. Signing up for that site was the best thing I have ever done. We have been living together now for 2 months and I am totally in love. I'm so glad he decided to message me. I actually cancelled on him the first night with a bogus excuse but then I met him the next nite...We went to this small Italain restauant (soft music, fancy waiters, excellent food) Our date lasted for 6 hours. Same with the second and third. He satifies me completely. I am so very happy.
Moral of the story: Don't knock the internet dating sites. They work. Its better than getting picked up in a bar/ club.

Met 43 years ago on a blind date. Actually had a date with one of her friends, but her friend broke her leg and couldn't go out. So my best boyfriend's girl offered to see if my (now) wife would like to go out. She did. We went to a movie and have been together ever since. Dated for three years, then married.
Still feel totally in love with her. Guess it was a good date. :D

OK, i'll bite....
I met my wife on AOL several years ago. I was Okiestud and she was Sugarpantz. We have been very happily married now for 4 years and things are great. <She even got me a webcam for my last birthday. LOL>
BTW, we ditched AOL shortly after we met.

I met my b/f at work at a newspaper in a small town in Northern Ontario. The funny thing was, his aunt knew we'd hook up.
I work at an Internet dating site and I do think they work, too.

I met my S/O years ago, must be close to 15 years now. We first met as staff at a childrens camp. We became friends. We were always platonic. We traveled to visit my parents, we went on canoe trips, camping trips, the symphoney and the theatre. During this time we both dated other people. Then we both sort of stoped dating other people. This state of singleness went on for about 2 years. Then one evening when she was over at my house for a BBQ things changed. After the meal she gave me a kiss. That evening we went to bed but did not have sex, we just held each other and talked. The next morning we had sex.
From early on in our friendship I was going to let her set the limits. I enjoyed, no loved our friendship. That it moved into a relationship makes it even more pleasurable.

I met my first serious girlfriend through a dating service I found in a newspaper, I had serious problems before then due to childhood abuse and being raped as a 16 year old.
Tessa had been in a violent relationship and had not recovered and I was too inexperienced in both dealing with the emotions of it all and the way to handle someone who had suffered trauma like that. I was just starting to learn how to deal with my own.
I them met my wife Jenny through the same Dating service. I jumped into marriage without really getting to know her. The saying marry in haste, repent in leisure is certainly true in my case.
The first internet relationship I had lasted 3 long hard heartbreaking years and caused me such stress it has had a very bad effect on my health.
But the great news is that I met a wonderful woman in Pixies chat about a year ago and she is all I could ever want in attitude personality and compatibility. We are going to meet and travel together in the US on my trip next year. We both are being sensible and waiting till we meet to find out if the sparks happen face to face but for once I think that the person who will bring happiness to my life is there.

I had to giggle when I read this.....
I met my husband in a bar, something I swore I'd never, ever do.
Although I wasn't 'picked up', per se. We were introduced by a mutual friend. This June we celebrated our 31st wedding anniversary, and just this past Tuesday was the 32nd anniversary of when we met.
And I met my "other S/O", right here at Pixies! Except for some scheduling problems, we're very happy with each other.
So I guess I've done things both the old and the new way. :D

I've done the meeting in a bar thing, and went out with one girl for over a year, from a "chance" meeting! Met my ex-wife when we were both doing our Psych Nurse training.... got married about 3 weeks after we finished our training (in 1990, that was). Split up (for good!!) with her two years ago, then was on my own for over a year or so. (No tears, please!! :))
THEN...... joined a few internet dating sites, wasn't really getting anywhere though. One night I went on and there was a message from a lassie who thought I sounded "OK". Got chatting online for a wee while, then met up one saturday afternoon to go to the movies...... eventually got home about 9 o'clock at night!! Been seeing her ever since, and moved in here in April..... it'll be our "anniversary" next month, and it's been the HAPPIEST year of my life, so far!!
You all know who I'm talking about.....

I LOVE you sweetie!

I met my S/O when I was 15 and he was 20, him a college boy and me working illegally cause my family needed the money. We worked at Mickey D's. We dated some but I had a super possessive boyfriend for years so it never went anywhere (we always remained super close friends) til I was strong enough to make my own decisions. I heard he had met a chick on a cruise and was driving to Illinois to see her. I worried he would be hurt. I told him after work one night, " Illinois is a long way to go to get your feelings hurt. Why not stay here and talk to me instead?" He never left.

I went to a party at the Honors House my first week at Ohio State University. I went as the date of one of my RA's (uperclass students who work at the dorm)...and met his friend at the party...and fell in love.
He recited poetry, sang to me, and asked me if I ever read the Fountainhead...I was so intrigued I spent the evening, night, and much of the morning with him. We went to to the airport and watched the sun rise...fell asleep in a field...and woke up to a cop standing over us (we were tresspassing, but he let us go).
Of course, after that night he never again recited poetry...and I try to discourage his singing :D , but we built a great relationship.
We're having our 9 year anniversary in September.

Before my husband I had met all my boyfriends either at school or through friends.
I was working as manager of a little grocery store in Mass. Future hubby moved to the area due to a new job right up the street from there and he stopped in on his way to work for cigarettes. He said he noticed me right away but didn't ask me out cause he figured I was taken. He asked one of the girls at the register about me & she gave him every little detail and my phone number too. He called that night & asked me out but I had no clue who he was so I said no. The next day I noticed this really nice looking guy come in the store. He came up to me & introduced himself as the caller. A week later we had our 1st date, on Halloween night. Four months later in Feb. I moved in with him. A year & half later we were married.
A pick-up date in a grocery store, and a whirl-wind courtship just resulted in our 27th wedding anniversary on Aug. 21.

campingboy,
I worked night shift at a bank. Dearsweet worked in the company cafeteria. It took us a while to get together, but eventually I asked her if she would like to see “Superman” with me. We had an on again off again arrangement while I worked in Saudi Arabia in the early eighties, but after we started to talk of marriage, when my contract was up the second time, I decided to return to the States rather than to as her to come live in Jeddah.

I was 18/19 yrs old.In the service & in a long distance relationship with an older girl home. There was an A&W Root Beer
Stand just offbase.Everyone used it as a pickup & hangaround spot. They had music piped into the parking lot.Everyone used to get a(.50)Baby Root Beer)and hangout there. My buddy&I were
there one night. We had a fake draft card&had each bought a bottle of booze, over the border in Mass.My buddy had taken the
car and went after one girl.I was staggering around the parking lot, with a 16oz. beer in one hand a bottle in the other. An AP&SP,
pulled into the lot, making their rounds.I spotted a car, driven by a girl that I knew, with another girl that I knew as the passenger.
There was a strange girl,in he middle.I dove in the front side window,& landed in the strangers lap.I said"Hi,my names Tom".
We got married on May1,1965,and have been together since!

I tended bar in which we had dancers (exotic...strippers...whatever you want to call em....lol!) and my S/O would come in after his day and sit and talk with the boyfriend of one of the owners. They knew each other because my S/O owned a diesal mechanic shop that serviced the fleet of trucks this other guy drove for.
Anyway.....we talked and flirted and bantered for about a year, as friends. He was interested in another girl and I was trying to help him get up the nerve to just ask her out....as she wasn't really interested in him. One day it occured to me....Wait a minute....this is a great guy and if she isn't interested...why should I push him towards her? So, I turned up the flirting and started asking him for drinks after our bar closed.
All the dancers egged me on and finally we went on our first real date. He took me to a beautiful restaraunt.....and I couldn't eat anything but a shrimp cocktail....because suddenly I was very nervous around him. That was almost 17 years ago....and although we only just married in 2000....we've been together since my "awakening"!

First(and the one I lost my virginity to)-Lived out of state, was in town for a school exchange thing (was being hosted by a friend) and ended up being introduced and having a long distance relationship.
Second-Met at school registration...then he changed his mind at the last minute and ended up going to St. Cloud State in Minnesota...but his parents lived nearby and he'd come home and we had our dates on the weekends.
Third-Met in a coffee shop.
Fourth-Just sat down at my table one day in the union and had lunch with me...dated almost two years, and he's now my fuck buddy.
Still looking for "The One."

Apparently my boyfriend and I had met twice previously, but I remember the occasion I forgot about and I remember the one he forgets. We ended up getting together this spring after meeting at work. (I started my summer job a week before he came back to work as my boss's boss.) We went to a conference together along with other co-workers, had a few drinks at a club, and we ended up sleeping in the same room that night. After returning from the conference, he would have preferred not to see me because of the boss thing as well as the age thing (I'm 19 and he's 34), but then I showed him Pixies and he was so intrigued about me he couldn't just let me go... Next week we'll have been together for 4 months :D

My current GF was matched to me on match.com and nerve.com, for the first time, on the very same night (we were both on both services - you have to cast a wide net!).
We talked a few times on the phone and when she told me she needed to buy a new DVD player, I offered to be her technical expert. She took a leap of faith and let me come to her house on the first date, we had a glass of wine before we went out to buy the DVD player. We ended up smootching on the couch.
She has often said that she wishes she wouldn't have waited until the fourth date to yank my clothes off and attack me.

My S/O and I went to school together up until 3rd grade, when my family moved to another town. We met again after both of us had graduated from High School, in front of my Grandmother's house. He remembered me, but I didn't him. We said a passing hi, and not too long after that we started dating and have been together for almost 20 yrs.

My wife was my supervisor (and some say she still is), at my first job. I was working my way through the first year of college. We got along well at work and it never really dawned on me that she wanted to date so a mutual friend, and coworker, fabricated a meeting for couples only knowing I didn't have a serious girlfriend at the time. When I wasn't able to tell him right off who I'd be bringing, he suggested I ask our boss and I was speachless. Well, I asked her and she readily agreed to go. That was the second clue I hadn't picked up on. When we arrived at the "gathering", we were the only ones there! Should've known it was a setup from the start. Anyway, that was 15 years ago, 13 of which were spent married.

I guess all who know me know that my SO is Horseman12. We met here in smut games of all places. It must have been fate, because it was unusual for him that evening to be there at that time, and I would normally have been in bed, but for some unknown reason couldn't sleep and decided to go to smut games instead of the usual quiz room I went in. My heart skipped a beat when I saw him there, and has been skipping ever since. I hope it is dancing soon because I join him on the 4th of October. I can't wait!!!! We have both dreamed of the moment, and I guess we both thought it may never happen with us being so far apart.

I met my husband 12 years ago on a very cruel date set up. A so-called friend of mine set me up with this guy who wanted to take me to dinner (which thrilled me since I was extremely broke and hadn't had a real meal in weeks) or so I thought. On the other side this guy wanted to be set up with me for a quick lay. LOL boy was he in for a surprise when I wouldn't. LOL
I couldn't stand him he was a total ass. He would say things like, 'I have a pocket full of pennies how about a table dance'. Absolutely annoying! I ditched him ASAP and about 2 days later I got a phone call from him apologizing. He invited me to his house and he cooked me an awesome meal. Needless to say he can cook a fabulous breakfast too! hehe We have been together ever since.

khaos and I met at a Denny's of all places, I was there having coffee with roomates and my g/f at the time. We talked and the whole time all i could think was how much fun he would be, especially in his uniform (im a sucker for military men). We saw each other a few more times at denny's but he wouldn't ask me out because he thought i was a total lesbian, from when he met my g/f.
Well eventually I had to come on to him for him to realize I wasn't totally gay and we met up for a ONE night stand......that was about 6 1/2 years ago, over 6 of them being married....It has been the longest one night stand i have ever heard of.....He was just THAT GOOD...tee hee.....I love you baby.:hot:

Met my wife 15 years ago on the job. We both worked for a cruise line (shoreside, i.e. not on the ships itself). At first she wanted to keep our relationship a secret but it eventually got out. Great perk of the job was that we got to sail on the ships quite frequently. Thus, we literally got to travel the caribbean together while we dated.
Not a bad way to get to know someone... ;)
